LADWP's Valley Steam Plant
Sun Valley Steam Plant
Several designs are being considered for the Department of Water and Power's Valley Steam Plant property. Utilizing detention and infiltration strategies at this site would help divert much of the runoff and would significantly reduce the flows, and thus flooding, on San Fernando Road. Large unused storage tanks could hold stormwater temporarily for later use at the steam plant or nearby gravel processing plants.

An infiltration field could be built to hold stormwater for absorption into the ground. Runoff from nearby commercial properties could be collected and treated to a level acceptable for infiltration or reuse. Also under consideration at this site is the addition of green space and picnic facilities.
