Sun Valley Middle School
Sun Valley Middle School
The potential to infiltrate runoff from school grounds and the nearby upstream neighborhood makes Sun Valley Middle School another possible project site. In addition to Sun Valley Middle School Landscape infiltration, the design would include strategic tree planting and water storage and reuse for landscaping. Implementation of these ideas will help to reduce both water and electricity usage. Water will be saved through reuse, and energy use will be reduced by shading buildings and air conditioning units.

The proposal includes depressing the playing fields to collect rainwater, and installing storage tanks to hold water underground. A planter in the staff parking lot would add trees and also capture and treat stormwater runoff. Finally, the Quad area may also be depressed and used to capture runoff from the surrounding area. This conservation project can be used as part of an environmental education program for the students at Sun Valley Middle School.
